McAlister's goes with Dell hardware
RIDGELAND — McAlister's Deli is using Dell technology to support its point-of-sale (POS) and administrative operations to help meet the challenges of rapid growth as it expands its chain of 215 quick-casual restaurants more than 30% annually. Each McAlister's location has also installed six new POS stations comprised of the standards-based Dell OptiPlex GX520 system along with a receipt printer, cash drawer and touchscreen monitor. To support back-office activities, such as accounting, inventory and communications, McAlister's uses Dell's OptiPlex GX520 computers, Dell PowerEdge 850 servers, Dell PowerConnect 2216 Ethernet switches and Dell 1600n multifunction laser printers. Dell will also provide McAlister's with project management and deployment services including custom factory integration to ensure systems arrive preconfigured with the McAlister's software image.
First Data Launches Small Business Services ATMMarketplace
Nov 02 2006 : First Data has launched a suite of services and software tools for small and mid-sized businesses. The package, which includes a POS terminal and high-speed Internet payment processing, is being marketed by First Data's Independent Sales Services group. The FD-100 terminal supplied as part of the package is proprietary to First Data, Elizabeth Grice, First Datas Director of Marketing Communications, tells epaynews. "First Data outsources components of the terminals production to outside firms," she says. The FD-100 has replaced First Data's previous terminal, the Linkpoint AIO, the firm says. Based on the Windows CE 4.2 operating system, the FD-100 has a touchscreen display and five USB ports. First Data has bundled EarthLink Business Solutions' broadband Internet access service with the terminal, which means that merchants can process transactions at a faster rate than available over a dial-up connection.
InfoTouch Corporation — Store Manager ES
Since 1986, InfoTouch Corporation has been providing retail specialty shops with a comprehensive point-of-sale (POS) software product. InfoTouch released its latest version of Store Manager ES (Version 2.50) earlier this year. EASE OF USE -- 5 Stars The main menu of InfoTouch Store Manager contains a series of buttons that provides access to the register, inventory, customers, employees, utilities, a transaction manager, a replenishment option, the system setup option, a time clock, and a backup feature. Clicking on a button will update the screen with the features found in that module. Users can choose to work in the training mode, which is excellent for new employees or when first setting up the system. An offline mode is also available, which allows users to continue processing transactions even if the central system is not functioning.
