First Data Launches Small Business Services ATMMarketplace
Nov 02 2006 : First Data has launched a suite of services and software tools for small and mid-sized businesses. The package, which includes a POS terminal and high-speed Internet payment processing, is being marketed by First Data's Independent Sales Services group. The FD-100 terminal supplied as part of the package is proprietary to First Data, Elizabeth Grice, First Datas Director of Marketing Communications, tells epaynews. "First Data outsources components of the terminals production to outside firms," she says. The FD-100 has replaced First Data's previous terminal, the Linkpoint AIO, the firm says. Based on the Windows CE 4.2 operating system, the FD-100 has a touchscreen display and five USB ports. First Data has bundled EarthLink Business Solutions' broadband Internet access service with the terminal, which means that merchants can process transactions at a faster rate than available over a dial-up connection.
