FreeStar Signs Finnish Sales Referral Deal PR Newswire
Oct 30 2006 : Rahaxi Processing, the Finnish subsidiary of Irish card payments processor FreeStar Technology, has signed a sales referral agreement with MaestroYhtiot/Mikromaestro, a Finnish POS software vendor. The deal calls for MaestroYhtiot to market to its merchant clients the Rahaxi-OTI (Open Terminal Interface) middleware system developed by Rahaxi. In addition, Rahaxi says it will provide MaestroYhtiot's customers with a range of services including online card payment processing and EMV chip card processing. MaestroYhtiot has around 500 merchant clients. The 6,000 POS terminals operated by MaestroYhtiot's merchants generate 7.2 million card payment transactions per year, according to Rahaxi. Paul Egan, chief executive officer of Dublin-based FreeStar Technology, says in a statement that Rahaxi-OTI provides a turn-key, EMV-certified payment interface between systems operated by merchants, banks and credit card acquirers.
Wireless POS (Point of Sale) For Linux
Research has shown that the number of POS (point of sale) terminals running Linux in North America has increased 80% since 2002. For hospitality providers, there's good reason to go with Linux. As an operating system, Linux is more cost effective, flexible, and allows for greater freedom of choice in software than more mainstream operating systems. Savings can also be found in regards to licensing, installation, administrative and support costs. Linux offers all this without sacrificing functionality. The challenge however, has been finding a flexible point of sale system that can actually run on Linux. .
